March

A captured moment for every day of the year, beginning January 1st.

Current month: March (photos 60-90)

- a day in Tel Aviv.. city exploring and beachin' it up. too good

 - Battle of the Sexes! the boys won but we certainly put up a good fight ;)

 - the beginning of the evening

 - some of us spent our free Monday in Jerusalem and witnessed three different bar mitzvahs. it was too fun to watch the all the excitement of the celebration!

 - photo collection above my bed of my loves back home

 - happiness all day long in the Shephelah region of Israel. it's one of my faves!

 - lazy days in the hammock

 - mine and Sarah's homemade Challah bread for Shabbat! this is pre-baked and inside is butter, cinnamon, and brown sugar. afterwards a vanilla glaze was smothered all over it. it basically changed my life

 - so my DAD is visiting Israel for a week and I couldn't be happier. toooooo exciting!!

 - Hezekiah's tunnel with my dad! check out my post on this blog post if you don't know what it is :)

 - Israeli folk dancing with the group

-73 - so unfortunately, I came down with the flu and was entirely out of commission for a good three days. I threw up enough to fill the Mediterranean sea I'm sure, but the IBEX staff here provided exceptional care to my frail soul. seriously, I was blessed. much love to Stephanie Schlegel and Wendy and my wonderful roommate Sarah.
By the end of the second day, I started my steady diet of crushed ice, saltine crackers, and chicken broth... hahah :) glad to report I am almost at 100% again!

 - what do you do after class? climb into the window of the bomb shelter of course! hahhaha :) I superrr adore her

 - when roaming around Israel with my dad and the other parents, I got to hold a lil lamb. day=made

 - day 1 of a trip to the Negev region of Israel for 4 days. this is in the ruins of a Nabatean fortress..
but hangin with my roommate was one of the best parts of the trip :)

 - this is the Red Sea.. and this is me snorkeling in it :)

 - in the desert highlands. I am small

 - on the last day of our Negev trip, I got to float in the Dead Sea! I missed the field study to En Gedi/Dead Sea because I had the flu. I was soo sad to miss it and definitely shed a few tears as my face spent the day in the toilet instead hahaha. four others stayed back that day too, so Bill arranged for us to stop here on our way back to the moshav so we could experience it :) it was the coolest!

 - Passover Seder.. a festive meal to celebrate the first night of Passover. we had to do it a lil bit early since we were all leaving on travel break. it was so fun!!!

 - my group left at 3am for Greece this morning. it was the world's longest day! we arrived in Athens at noon and were thrilled to be there. we figured we would dive right into the culture for our first meal... so we got a lamb head. hahaha

 - took a ferry from Athens to the BEAUTIFUL island of Santorini. we rented four wheelers as our transportation and had the greatest time exploring the island for the first time with them

 - we rode around the entire island on our four wheelers and landed upon this spot at the tip of the island to watch the sunset. can't comprehend the privilege to be able to travel like this and to see these sights with my own eyes

 - we stumbled upon the greatest thing ever: a MEXICAN restaurant. I have been without my favorite cuisine for 2.5 painstaking months. Mary, the owner, treated us like we were her children..it was the greatest experience. and when our food arrived, I beheld God's love displayed.. in the form of a friggin burrito. HALLELUJAH!

 - last day on my paradise island of Santorini. black sand, blue water, and white waves crashing all around us. it provided the perfect backdrop for a photo with our faithful four-wheelers. we had the greatest time here ahhhh

 - we made it to the Acropolis!! the ancient citadel of Athens

 - welcome to the 2004 Athens Olympic Stadium. it was huge and soo cool to see it completely vacant (for the most part). we explored the whole facility for a few hours and found most of the arenas for the olympic sports (there are two smaller stadiums in Athens which hold the rest of the competition)

 - today I got to explore the beautiful remnants of a medieval Greek castle known as Acrocorinth, the acropolis of ancient Corinth. I can't believe I got to see it in the spring.. it was glorious!! the ground was covered in tall grass and yellow and purple flowers. I wandered away from everyone so I grabbed this shot with my self-timer and after a few terribly out of focus and crooked shots, I got this one!!! yay :)

 - underground at the Metro station. I came to Greece with great friends and left with a family. God couldn't have placed me with a better group to travel with. I love you all so much! thanks for a seriously magnificent trip

 - Matzah in the morning... and at lunch..... and for dinner.......... happy Passover everyone
(Passover = no leavened bread, aka... crackers only haha)
